Bug ID: 101538
Summary: Improve ldownload links for Windows installers on web
site
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
I would like to propose an enhancement to the display of the available Windows
downloads.
The LibreOffice does offer 2 Windows builds. One for x86 and one for x64.
As I understood from issue 96645
(https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96645), this is
intentional.
However, the web site does not say anything about it.
Would it be possible to improve the download section a bit?
For exmaple, at the moment, there is a "Windows" download, and a "Windows
x86_64 (Vista or newer required)".
My suggestion:
Provide "Windows x86 (recommended)" and "Windows x86_64 (experimatenal / link
to risks here)".
Reason: explicitly stating x86 does allow to realize the difference between the
other download more easily. It might be obvious, but I for example had to
iunspect the link to get confirmation that the difference is really the target
architecture.
NB: As Windows XP is now EOL, I'm not sure if the hint about Win Vista as a
minimum is still required (I guess may know better).
