If you do not save your document, LibreOffice can't restore it.

You can tweak the autosave function: menu Tools > Options > LibreOffice >
Advanced > click the "Expert configuration" button and search "autosave". For
example you can choose the time step for autosaving. Be aware that autosaving
is time consuming if you choose a short time step.
