Bug #: 50799
Summary: EDITING: XLS format duplicates links to local files
making them useless
Classification: Unclassified
Product: LibreOffice
Version: LibO 3.5.3 release
Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Status Whiteboard: BSA
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]

target_file.xls is a simple, reproducible example of how link gets multiplied
and corrupted.
Problem description: When saving in xls format with link to xls file, local
path is duplicated.
/home/user/somepath/file.xls becomes
/home/user/somepath/home/user/somepath/file.xls.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Begin (Open) with "Source" XLS file made under LibO.
2. Create a new spreadsheet in LibO. Link cell to a cell in first ("Source")
XLS file, in another folder. Call this file "Target"
3. Save Target file as xls. Close Source file. Close Target file.
4. Reopen Target file in LibO. Links are now duplicated as described above.
Current behavior:
='file:///home/dwyer/Documents/temp/test/source_file.xls'#$Sheet1.B3
is saved as
='file:///home/dwyer/Documents/temp/home/dwyer/Documents/temp/test/source_file.xls'#$Sheet1.B3
which means the link does not work. Selecting update links yields an error.
Expected behavior:
Form of link would be preserved upon save, close, and reopen as:
='file:///home/dwyer/Documents/temp/test/source_file.xls'#$Sheet1.B3
Platform (if different from the browser):
Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:12.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/12.0
