This is a bug and should not need a workaround. From:

Are you also using Ubuntu 16.04? I'm seeing this in Version: 5.1.4.2
Build ID: 1:5.1.4-0ubuntu1 that ships with Ubuntu. However in my own 5.3 builds
on Ubuntu work as expected without the need for a workaround. This may be a bug
in 5.1.x or with Ubuntu's configuration.
