Indeed, the error during save is not there anymore in master build. I did a
reverse bibisect, and the following commit fixed it:

Caolán, do you think it's safe to backport this commit to 5.2/5.1?
Let's keep this report open until the underlying issue is resolved. Reducing
importance, since the file can be saved now.
