Ah, indeed, that option does not retain for search in the search bar. Messy..

I opened bug 98544 some time ago: "Find & Replace dialog should remember the
'other options' state". But that is only one part of the discussion, not the
relation with the Find toolbar. One could also say: options from dialog should
not be used by default, and add check to toolbar to use the options as set in
the dialog..
