I hope its not obsolete at the current stage, but I can confirm this issue on
my MacPro (late 2013) with the AMD FirePro D700 graphics card.

So it might not only affect laptops switching to dedicated GPUs but all
dedicated GPUs.

After the upgrade from 10.11 to 10.12 the issue started immediately. I even
erased my disk and performed a clean reinstall (no Time Machine restore) to no
avail.

If compiling with the latest XCode could break backward compatibility, there is
still the option to have 2 releases, one with XCode 10.8 (for 10.8-10.11) and
one for 10.12+ using the latest XCode. Would that make sense? I have seen it
for other products too, that they provide multiple releases due to API changes
etc.
