In Writer there are two text features in addition to styled paragraphs.
Text Box, or a Frame with Text.
Would seem you are referring to the Text Box?
A Text Box is a drawing object--so its behavior on the document canvas can be
different from a Frame containing text. Or a styled paragraph.
These visual corruptions as described will affect drawing objects more than
other elements on the Writer document canvas.
So, to be able to test and possibly reproduce we need to know:
What distribution of Linux
What desktop environment
What Graphics Processor and driver
