Sigh ....
This is a much more general problem with LibO's limited formatting and editing
skills in Chart object data tables.

This has nothing to do with WRITER, same in DRAW 

And I agree, Date Recognition/Conversion is too aggressive. My first results
are
- Some aspects worked more plausible in 3.3 (no number recognition for
category)
- Date recognition inconsistent with new Spreadsheet standard
- It's not logic to have the axis formatted as currency and to have a Date
  Recognition active (for example), but that's the same in CALC)

@Eike:
Do you know whether there already something to improve this is in the pipeline?
