Hi,
Sorry for the lack of subcomponent in the summary but I couldn't find the one
to use.
As an architect I use LibreOffice for my specifications (a very long ordered
list describing each part of the project, lots of the are always the same, I
just add some specific lines = snippets for each project).
I created a single document that I just need to copy and adapt for each of my
projects. This document is composed by sections loaded from smaller and
maintainable files (this ensures that each time I modify those smaller files,
the modifications are shown in each copy of my principal document too, which is
all it is about :) ), text snippets that are particular to the current project
between those sections and a lot of variable which hide or show sections if
needed in that particular project. To make it a bit more complex, some
specifications that I import with a section contains some sections too (this
make a total of 3 levels of sections). This worked until I got a very small
project which need very little specifications and thus lots of sections are
hidden. LibreOffice seems to hidden and show the same section at the same time
which makes the last pages of the document to be constantly "shaking" and the
small specific snippets impossible to edit.
LibreOffice documentation recommend the use of Master documents for large and
complex files. I tried to create a folder containing small sub-documents with
sections to my previous "base specification" that are editable for each
project. The Master document being used only to export the whole in .pdf . Each
time I connect some "bigger" (with "imported" sections on 2 level)
sub-documents to my master document, LibreOffice hangs or crashes.
I split my previous single document (the one with shaking pages) in Master
document and sub-documents with File -> Send -> Master Document. The split is
ok, but when I open the master document, LibreOffice hangs to.
Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone the same problem? Is there a solution?
