Bug ID: 104361
Summary: :
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 5.2.3.3 release
Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
When using the AutoText system, I have found a diffuculty in LibreOffice
(version 5.2.3.3 x64) which was not present in its "predecessor", the
OpenOffice program (version 4.1.3).
As a researcher of ancient Mesopotamian languages and scripts I am entering
"cuneiform" signs into the German (English . . .) text, which is easily
produced by using LibreOffice writer. So for instance I type "lugal" (without
quotation marks), then press F3, and then the letters l-u-g-a-l are replaced by
the corresponding cuneiform sign (which means "king" in Sumerian and which I
cannot produce here; in the Unicode system it identified by U+12217).
LibreOffice-Writer gets this sign from the file Urdrei20.bau (in C:\Program
Files\LibreOffice 5\share\autotext\de\).
But like all ancient and modern "hand-writings" there is not only 1 shape of
this sign LUGAL. And entering a cuneiform sign into a text written by latin
characters sometimes needs a big sign (20pt), sometimes a smaller on (12pt). So
in the path indicated above I have not only the file mentioned already but also
a file named Urdrei12.bau producing smaller signs. And furthermore there are
.bau-files with different names, e.g. Altbab12.bau, producing something like a
younger and more cursive shape of the same signs.
The "names" typed before pressing F3 are the same for all periods and sizes of
cuneiform signs.
Now if the writer-program discovers that then "name" of an autotext-sign is
present in more than one file the program is showing the names of all the
.bau-files which contain the "name" of the autotext-sign. Since I know which
are the shapes and sizes of the signs contained in these .bau-files I have a
choice between e.g. the sign in a early shape and in 20pt size OR the sign in
the same shape but in 12pt size OR the sign in a younger shape and an 12pt
size, and so on. By clicking on what I have selected the program will replace
the letters l-u-g-a-l by exactly that shape and size which I wanted to see on
the screen.
This is the behaviour of OpenOffice. But LibreOffice will always replace the
letters l-u-g-a-l by the shape and size as contained in the very first file of
the list "offered" to me although I had selected the 3rd possibility.
Furthermore when I know before "writing" the very first cuneiform sign in my
text WHICH SHAPE AND SIGN I WANT TO USE THROUGHOUT MY TEXT, in OpenOffice I
press Ctrl-F3 to see the autotext menu; there I click (or double-click) that
file which contains the shape and the size of signs I want to use, then close
this menu, and when I later write in my text the letters l-u-g-a-l and press F3
then exactly the shape and size of the cuneiform sign which I had preselected
will appear throughout my new text.
Which also does not function with LibreOffice.
Please try to introduce the possibilities of OpenOffice into LibreOffice!
Thank you!
