Ok, now I got it. I will give steps.
Steps done before creating actual field:
1. Insert - Field - More fields
2. Variables - Set variable
3. Give it some useful name, format can be text, Invisible ticked. Insert it.
This field will open the dialog with one click:
1. Insert - Field - More fields
2. Variables - Input field. Insert it.
This field will require a double-click to edit:
1. Insert - Field - More fields
2. Functions - Input field. I let it reference the variable created in the
first phase. Insert it.
This behavior is actually a regression, because in 3.6 it does not require a
double-click.
