Indeed. I have just noticed that converting the same graphical elements into a
metafile and then breaking it back into pieces results exactly in the same kind
of mangling. Hence, it is not something specific to PDF, rather general to the
"breaking apart".
Should this be reported as a bug in the "breaking apart" process, then?
