Description:
In Column A I have a list of values containing strings such as "a (b)" or "b
(c)"

In column E I have a list containing each unique value in column A.

Column D consists of this equation:

=countifs(a:a,e1)

in this case e1 contains a value from column A.

The count is always zero.

Count of values
