Two "hints", first is that DOC/DOCX are not native to LibreOffice and must be
filter imported. Direct formatting applied in MS Word will not necessarily be
handled the same on import to LibreOffice and ODF.  Sometimes better to save as
ODF .odt from MS Word and then open that--especially if you have edits to do to
the document.

The other, enable display of "non-printing characters" (<Ctrl>+F10) or the
Toolbar button. That will display the paragraph ending "pilcrow" character and
allow you to identify where direct formatting, or styles, are being applied.
