Also tested on LibreOffice 5.2.3.2 on Ubuntu 16.04 steps from Description.
It looks like on Windows (and now on Ubuntu) I have also clicked on
bottom-right (at the zoom ruler) the "Multi-page view" icon to display pages
one next to another. So this should be like (2a) step.
