Telesto/Aron: What if you open Tools > Customize... > Context Menus, switch to
the "Text" menu, and delete the "Synonyms" item (should be the last one). Does
it make any difference?
I strongly suspect this has the same root cause as Bug 104332 (i.e. first time
initialization of thesaurus), so whatever will be opened first the Tools menu
or the context menu, it will have that delay.
