Just an informational bump to report that there is no improvement whatsoever in
5.3.0.3.
Also, I ran across these two meta bugs tracking OpenGL issues: bug 94691 (OS
agnostic) and bug 97937 (Linux specific). Just in case our bug is tangentially
related to the ongoing OpenGL shenanigans I thought I'd link them here.

Hi Renato. I think you misunderstood my retraction in comment #58. I jumped
to erroneous conclusions about the bug being fixed, not about your workaround
being ineffective. As far as I've seen, it (your workaround) always does the
job. I apologise for putting you up to all that typing. Cheers.
