            Bug ID: 106436
Summary: VIEWING: Document canvas view jumps back to cursor in
comment when going to another window and back
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: Inherited From OOo
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

The document canvas view jumps back to the comment box where the cursor is
positioned when you're viewing another part of the document and then going to
any other open window and back.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a new Writer document with some pages.
2. Add a comment on the first page, let the cursor in the comment box.
3. Scroll down to another page.
4. Switch to any other open window.
5. Go back to the Writer document.

Actual result:

The document canvas view jumps back to the cursor.

Expected result:

The document canvas view should stay where it was before switching the window.

Maybe computer newbies are happy that they have not to search for the cursor
position or the comment where they are in with the cursor. But during normal
workflow it has a reasonable cause to go outside the comment and then switching
window and then going back to the document showing the document canvas view
where you were before switching windows. (In any way you can found out where
your cursor is by typing a letter or an arrow key at the keyboard.)

Use case of the bug opener for OpenOffice.org in 2010:

[...] I would love if this jump does not happen. It often happens, that I
scroll down to a specific position in the document and then need to look-up
something in the web-browser. As soon as I switch back to writer the position
of the document jumps back to the comment and I need to scroll down again.

PS: Maybe that is a relic of the many "view jump bugs" from old OOo times. I
remember that there were several fixes in OOo 3.2 and OOo 3.3 for jump issues.
