I am seeing a similar problem using password-protected .ods (calc) files.
LO version 5.32, Win10-1703.
Suggested cause: In my case, I normally navigate to the file using Windows
Explorer, then click on it to open it in LO calc (which has been set as
default). LO then seems to create a hidden temporary file in the same folder
as the file to be opened. Is this why the password-entry box looses focus and
disppears behind the Windows Explorer window?
