LDAP shoud be optional because there is no reason you strictly need ldap for
writing documents.
I only find the configure option to use system-ldap instead of builtin..
"--with-system-openldap Use the OpenLDAP LDAP SDK already on system."
I think there should also be an option for enabling/disabling ldap-support
completely.
