Hi Nora,
Can you provide the steps to reproduce the issue and language(s) you try to
use?
Did you enable the spell checking? You can do that in Tools menu > Automatic
Spell Checking.
Moreover you should check the language of the document on the status bar or in
Tools menu > Language whether is is proper or not.
