i have done a second look and, i can reproduces the behavior
when formatting the axis, in the tab scale uncheck the min and max scale, press
enter and the chart bar disappear
it does this in different versions of LO 5.4beta1 ,5.5alpha and 5.3.3.2
os slackware14.2 x86
