Looks like a font fallback issue and might be related to the text layout
re-work since we no longer use the system library for it. IIRC system font was
hidden under macOS and need special handling that we don’t currently do, so it
is possible that we are unable to select the system font and for some reason
failing to do font fallback. Someone with development skills needs to debug it
on macOS.
