             Bug #: 53073
Summary: Make quickstarter available for Linux non-distro
                    builds
    Classification: Unclassified
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 3.5.5.3 release
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: UI
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]

Please add the systray quickstarter as an option in the non-distro builds (the
builds downloadable from [1]).

I assume the way to do this is to include the quickstarter as a separate .DEB
or .RPM package. Site admins could decide for themselves whether to install
it.

I have a user who runs LO on a Linux laptop that isn't very fast. The laptop
has plenty of memory, though. If he could run the quickstarter to keep LO in
memory, then the few seconds of splash screen would be avoided each time he
opens a document when LO was not previously "open." Manually keeping LO open
isn't preferable, because (a) this leaves an LO taskbar button visible all the
time, which takes more screen space than the systray icon, and (b) it is too
easy to close LO by accident.

Thank you for looking into this request.
