Even if you don't want to use any unofficial updates you should always make sure that your system is fully up-to-date, i.e. that you've got installed all official system updates, IE6 with all updates, Script 5.7 with all updates, Windows Installer 3.1 with all updates, MS VC++ 2005/2008 with all updates, etc. >From my observations LibreOffice works perfectly fine in Windows 2000 under the conditions mentioned above.
