Michael: on a gdb session, I noticed I'm stuck here:
44 while ( pTmp && pTmp != pObj )
45 pTmp = pTmp->GetPrev();
which corresponds to frame 1 of my 2nd bt attached.
I don't know if it's layout or cache related but thought you might be
interested in this one.
