John - and others: Thank you. Starting with few fonts and increasing is an
idea, but I just don't have the time, unfortunately - and that may not be the
issue. I have neglected to mention that my other computer (desktop also running
Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit), has no problems. Unfortunately, it's convenient for
me to use this laptop much of the time.
The suggestions of the daily commit releases take me out of my depth - or
appear to. I'm reasonably computer literate so could probaly sort out that
approach, but exploring needs time Ilack.
