Based on your testing, it seems you should clone 5.4 repo:
git clone git://gerrit.libreoffice.org/bibisect-win32-5.4
as it is described: "libreoffice-5-3-branch-point to
libreoffice-5-4-branch-point and then libreoffice-5-4"
