I tried to reproduce it.
Result: A special character is only added to recent characters if you added it
via (launch dialog). If you use favourites, they are not added to recent
characters => I confirm your steps 1-4, but not 5-9. I don't think, that this
is a bug. Pershaps it could be useful to rename ("recent characters" in "recent
characters (without favourites)" to make it more clear)
