Do you also have an argument, why there should be no conversion? Besides I
wouldn't call an automatic quotation "silent".

I participated in a LO training with average users and it was very hard for
them to understand the need of quotation. In an example we had to construct
E-Mail addresses from a names list with the Function Wizard:

> =LOWER(CONCATENATE(A6,".",B6,"@",E6,".my-organisation.org") )

In cases like this example it is possible to infer the type of the arguments
and conduct an automatic quotation.

This is a question of providing an intuitive user interface.
