I reinstalled 5.4.3.2 to try the suggestions.

Safe mode on: no repro

Yay! However, I think I was too anxious to see the bug gone, and checked both
"Reset settings" and "Reset entire user profile" options at the same time, so
now I don't really know exactly where the problem was.
I'm resolving this issue as not a bug.
