When reporting a bug, you are obliged to write exact experienced and expected
steps. By writing expected steps you also control yourself.
What you described/experience is true, but your expectations are not possible.
If you edit individual document, you can save it but it's unrelated to mail
merge. It's not possible to re-use it again in mailmerge logic, but you can
print or save it.
If you need changes to all letters/mails, you can make them in the basic
document.
If you don't agree, or it's not what you asked for, please be specific and
explain exactly steps you expect and use case you have.
Note: I'm not a developer, but it doesn't make sense to ask them this at all,
because mail merge doesn't work like that.
