This is not relevant with the discussed issue: LO is not prepared to open .mdb
or .ldb files directly. When LO is invited to open an unknown format, it always
tries to open it with Writer combined with one of the many builtin format
convertors. If the format is not supported it gives unpredictable results like
the one you observed.
