Writer/Calc: Click on the icon "Rotate". In theme Tango it shows a circle
arrow. Then you get red handles. Grab the corner handles for rotating. The icon
should be in the "Image" or "Drawing Object Properties" toolbar. If the icon is
missing or you want it in another toolbar, you can customize the toolbar. It is
command "Rotate" in category "Drawing". Or you assign it to a short cut.

In Draw/Impress you can use two single mouse clicks, to switch to rotate mode,
in addition.
