            Bug ID: 115311
Summary: UI missing for nesting character styles
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
               URL: http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/144399
                OS: Windows (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: rb.hensc...@t-online.de

The specification explicitly allows nesting of <text:span> elements. Thereby
character styles are put on top of each other without introducing an
inheritance. Files where this is used work fine and in using hard formatting it
works fine too. Only in using styles it fails and the surrounding style is
removed.

In testing for https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/144399 I noticed, that
nesting is possible using shift+doubleClick in version Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+
(x64)
Build ID: facfc2951ea9f4745edd4a6fb1cf97697f33f40a
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default;
TinderBox: Win-x86_64@62-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2018-01-14_00:42:04
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); Calc: CL

But that seems to work accidentally.

So my request is, that a UI is added to put a character style on top of another
by nesting <text:span> elements.

There is likely a better method than shift+doubleClick, especially as
accessibility has to be considered too.
