I can confirm this behavior on LibreOffice Version: 6.0.2.1 on Mac.
Since making a copy by pressing the option-key (also named 'alt'-key) is
commonly used in Mac OSX system-wide, it makes sense that a column also gets
copied that way.
But if I press option+command while pasting in Finder for instance: then it
moves the previously selected file there.
On the other hand: in Numbers app moving columns works simply by pressing and
holding the primary mouse button on the column title and then drag and drop it
to the desired destination.
I would suggest that way as the most intuitive way to do it in LibreOffice on
Mac.
