I have noticed something similar
1. Local settings USA (Tools -> Options -> Language settings -> Languages
2. Open the attached file
3. Check spelling (F7) -> Spell checking complete.
4. Press OK
5. Try to select a different language (Italian/dutch) from the drop down box
(can't be done).
6. Reload the document -> file reload
7. Type after book 'argh'
8. Press Check spelling or F7
9. Select a different language -> working
