Ah, I ran into something simpler:
edit the file at : /etc/profile.d/libreoffice-fresh.sh and uncomment
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 (you need to reboot for this change to take effect).
Don't have time now to reboot, but I hope it works for you.
