If the dictation software uses Apple's accessibility interface in any way, then
this might be one possible cause of the problem. This is a known issue with all
versions of LibreOffice, where activation of accessibility methods causes
random crashes in LibreOffice. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this problem
at the moment, or for the foreseeable future (to my knowledge). LO uses some
calls and methods that are now deprecated in versions of OSX from 10.6 going
forwards (so 10.7, 10.8, etc). Until the underlying Mac code issues are
addressed, the problems will only get worse.

I can put Thorsten on copy, but as he won't be able to reproduce the bug
without the software, I doubt that much can be done in the immediate future.
