At least in my case, I had
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.odt
(Default) Word.OpenDocumentText.12
and there were no
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.odt\Word.OpenDocumentText.12\ShellNew
but I had
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.odt\LibreOffice.WriterDocument.1\ShellNew

I changed the default value to LibreOffice.WriterDocument.1 as follows,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.odt
(Default) LibreOffice.WriterDocument.1
and restarted Windows and "OpenDocument Text" context menu came back.
I don't know at what exact point this value was changed
but I'm guessing this change may have happened when I installed new language to
MS Office to test LibreOffice's multilingual features(and probably thereby MS
Office's Unstaller tried to restore the changed value,
LibreOffice.WriterDocument.1 to their original value Word.OpenDocumentText.12
?)
This may have happened When I launched any MS Office application and there was
NoReReg.
