Additional space is ugly.
I think proper solution is tab stop in Bug 32360.
Actual result (space is tied to chapter number):
2.1(space)Heading level 2 ................. 2(space)-1
Expected result (tab is entry in ToC structure):
2.1(tab)Heading level 2 ................. 2-1
