A simple exercise that will illustrate the problem :-

1) create 2 successive but different lines .

2) duplicate the first line by copying it and inserting it above the second
line .

3) do this 40 times .

notice :-

1) how many key strokes you have to do .

2) that you have to re-copy the line each time .

3) that you can't copy multiple lines and insert them .

Please Note :- this is a common operation when filling out expenses - eg.
duplicating lunch or accomodation details then changing the individual cells -
eg. amounts - to the respective values .

What I often do is to go through the recepits , say , once a month . I group
them into categories - by provider , put them in date order , create a common
entry line in the spread sheet , duplicate that entry line the corresponding
number of times , enter in the specific details .
