I have a Canon PIXMA MP258. I printed to file (PDF) and then printed that. The
result was worse; top line of row 1 missing, line between rows 7 and 8 is
missing and 32 and 33.
Since I have Windows 7 installed in a VirtualBox VM I decided to try the manual
print head alignment procedure for this printer, automatic previously done. It
did not change any thing.
I am mystified as to why this missing line only occurs with one (make that two)
spreadsheet. This spreadsheet is for daily inventories, there are four sheets.
It is used as a master for making copies. It is printed only when changes have
been make to inventory items, the last being June 22, 2018. On the inventory
sheets, the missing line is located on sheet 2, 3 and 4 between rows 12 and 13
on those sheets, sheet 1 prints okay. I printed another spreadsheet, it only
has one sheet, this sheet has previously printed okay, last printed March 12,
2018. This time it did not print okay. No line printed between rows 4 and 5, 12
and 13, missing bottom of row 55 (long bond paper).
I took the PDF file that was created by "Print to file" and took it to an
Internet Cafe today for printing. It printed fine, no missing lines. At this
point I am willing to concede that my printer may very well be the problem.
As I mentioned in my first comment, this problem goes away if I use a thicker
line width. In this case increasing from 0.05 pt to 0.25 pt (the next
increment). I can work around this.
Questions. In a new spreadsheet, a cell on an existing spreadsheet that has not
had formatting applied or after applying the context menu item "Clear Direct
Formatting"; the default line width is 0.75 pt on the "Format Cells...",
Borders tab. When adding borders using the Borders Toolbar the line width is
set at 0.05 pt.
Why is that? A bug perhaps?
Shouldn't they be the same? Seem to me they should be be the same.
Is there a way to set the default line width of the Borders Toolbar?
Format Cells..., Borders?
Thanks. (LOL I wasted a lot of ink and paper troubleshooting this. LOL)
