Ok, I see: your text has only one paragraph, and there is nothing to sort. Help
for sort says: Sorts the selected paragraphs or table rows alphabetically or
numerically.
I understand that you have to replace each line by a paragraph. For a long text
altsearch extension make easy to do that.
So I am closing as NotABug because the sort function behave as designed.
Feel free to reopen if you disagree.
