I have determined that the problem was a few lines of text below the September
table that I had pasted from a copy at site now unknown. My attempts to delete
those lines were to no avail.
I have worked around the problem by creating a new file without those lines.
I still consider it a bug that Libre does not allow me to delete whatever I
want.
My original version of the file, which I had marked as obsolete, contains
personal information: please delete it.
