SharePoint allows checking out files so no one else is allowed to edit it at
the same time:

MS Office supports this function inside the applications:

It would be nice to add this set of functionalities to LibreOffice.
I'm not sure what all the related functions and respective UI parts would be,
this requires further evaluation.
