Hello

1. Format> Conditional formating> Manage has to to calculate and show relative
references *only* when the current cell is within the range that is associated
with a conditional formatting. It has no meaning in other cases (when current
cell not within the range).

2. Anyway, It lacks  one essential information for understanding the formulas:
the reference cell, "base-cell-address" (xml) or "SourcePosition" (property). 

Markus file is a well-chosen:
base-cell-address="Sheet1.B4" for Sheet1.B4:Sheet1.B7
base-cell-address="Sheet1.E7 for Sheet1.E4:Sheet1.E7

I do not like the idea of ​​changing the current selection (as it could be
confusing for the user). Limit calculate relative references to concerned cells
and display / choose the cell reference would it solve the problem?
