I can confirm the same. I have made a point to dabble with Impress every time
there is a new major release.
To date, OpenGL has *never* worked properly, going all the way back to when
LibreOffice came into existence. I have tried using the OpenGL transitions
with every conceivable configuration of OS. Various flavours of Windows, Mac
and Linux.
I have gotten the transitions working exactly once: With the latest v6.1 (as a
Flatpak specifically, the default distro install doesn't work...), on Linux
Mint 19.1, using the Intel graphics driver. When I tried using the nvidia
drivers (both proprietary and nouveau), the screen flickered badly during the
transition.
I don't know where the problem lies, but it seems to me that the OGL
implementation in Impress is just hopelessly broken.
