Priority: medium
Bug ID: 55865
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: Severe Issue With Editing .odt and other text files
over 60KB's in Writer
Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 3.6.2.2 release
Component: Writer
Product: LibreOffice
Okay, there is a severe issue that I am running into with Libreoffice Writer. I
am trying to clean up some .txt and .odt files for distribution.
In some of them, there are wide swaths of paragraph breaks that make a 10+ line
blank spot in the text. When I try to remove those blank spots by backspacing
them or deleting them using the DEL key on my computer, Writer crashes out.
Same thing sometimes when I remove large swaths of text from a file while
cleaning it up.
This issue, for some reason, only appears in text documents (.txt and .odt from
personal experience) over 60KB's in size.
To make things worse, the document recovery has issues afterwards and keeps on
telling me that I don't have high enough permissions to view the recovered
file, even though I am an Administrator and that is about as high of
permissions as you can get in Windows 7/8 (this issue appears on both OS's
according to my tests).
I would attach the files in question, but they are not even R-rated, they are
MA-rated so I don't think that is a good idea.
This is a quite major issue since it crashes not only Writer but Writer's
document recovery. I could see someone who wasn't paranoid like myself losing a
lot of data from this issue.
